Graeme Maxton is an internationally renowned authority on the global automotive industry. Best-known for his stimulating presentations and event-chairing style, punchy analysis in his articles and books and all-too-accurate predictions on developments in the automotive industry, he appears regularly on television and radio around the world offering comment and thought-provoking insights into the machinations of the business.

He was a director of the Economist Intelligence Unit based in Hong Kong until May 2007, where he managed the senior executive regional programme for the Economist Intelligent Unit's Corporate Network. He has been associated with The Economist Group for many years contributing to The World in, Business China and Business Asia.  

He is the co-author of two best-selling books. The latest publication, Time for a Model Change: re-engineering the global automotive industry co-written with autoPOLIS founding partner, John Wormald, is full of sobering observations on the state of the business, is critical of the tactics of many vehicle manufacturers and recommends radical change for the industry. It became Cambridge University Press book feature of the year in 2004 and attracted significant global media attention.

Graeme Maxton was co-founder of autoPOLIS and Director for Asia until March 2007. Graeme Maxton provides economic outlooks and industry insights to many of the world's vehicle OEMs and component manufacturers, as well as to financial institutions and other organisations whose success depends upon the fortunes of the automotive industry. He also write papers and advises government agencies on automotive industrial policy.

Mr Maxton's knowledge of the major issues facing the industry, especially the Asian markets, where he has been based and working in for many years, translates into being a highly sought-after advisory, speaker, commentator or facilitator.

Past clients for research, consulting and insight briefing engagements include Ford, Renault, GKN, SKF, Continental Teves, Visteon, TRW, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, LeasePlan, Federal Mogul, Iran Khodro, Tata Group, TNT Logistics, the UK Government, the Ministry of Industry Thailand and the Malaysian Government.Mr. Maxton was previously with BoozAllen & Hamilton, Citibank and American Express International. He holds a first-class degree in economics and operations research and an MBA from City University London.
