Based in Abu Dhabi this academic year, on secondment from Singapore, Professor Anderson is the INSEAD Alumni Fund Professor of Entrepreneurship and Academic Director of The Abu Dhabi Centre. An authority on entrepreneurial business, he researches the way such businesses are formed, manage their international growth, the processes of technological evolution, innovation and implementation of strategy.

He is a regular speaker at management conferences, including the Bloomberg, BusinessWeek and TiEcon. He has conducted many company workshops and briefings, for organizations including 3i, Adidas, Aetna, Air Products, Astra International, Astra Zeneca, Bank Danamon, BOC, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Commerce One, DaimlerChrysler, Dow, Eaton, Ernst & Young, GSK, Heidelberg, HP, Intel Capital, Interpharma, Jones Lang LaSalle, KPMG, McGraw-Hill, Merrill, Petronas, Polaris Ventures, Praxair, PWC, RHB, Roche, Telenor, and VISA and many others. He also advises several startup enterprises, as well as the social venture Microspeed.

He writes a number of articles which regularly appear in journals such as the Harvard Business Review, the Sloan Management Review and various other academic publications. He wrote “Managing Strategic Innovation and Change” (Oxford University Press 2004) with Michael Tushman and “Inside the Kaisha: Demystifying Japanese Business Behavior” (Harvard Business School Press 1997) co-authored with Noboru Yoshimura, Booz • Allen & Hamilton/FT’s Global Business Book of the Year 1997.

As well as Professor of Entrepreneurship since 2001, he is also Director of 3i VentureLab, a centre for research into new insights and understanding entrepreneurship. He is an independent director of Chemoil and is on the governing board of Indus World Schools in India. He was previously Associate Professor of Business Administration, Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth College 1993-2001 and also Director of the Glassmeyer /McNamee Center for Digital Strategies, 2000-1. Professor Anderson has a B.S. in Agricultural Economics (1978), M.Phil in Management of Organizations at Columbia University (1986) and has a PhD from the Columbia Graduate School of Business, (1988)
