Mr Ziegler is a leading Asia commentator who touches on many of the critical issues shaping Asia’s future, including economic and political integration, climate change and competition for resources. With over 20 years' experience with The Economist, based in Tokyo, he has strong perspectives to share on India and China and on North East Asia and. He is the author of The Economist’s new Banyan column on Asian affairs and was previously Tokyo Bureau Chief, leading the newspaper’s focus on North-East Asia and covering the relationships and crucial developments unfolding between the powers of Japan, China and the Koreas.

He has authored a number of The Economist's surveys include one on China and its neighbours, entitled "Reaching for a renaissance" (April 2007) which was a study of China's rise and impact on the rest of the world, starting with Asia.

Dominic Ziegler was previously The Economist's China Correspondent (from 1994-2000), based firstly in Hong Kong and subsequently in Beijing. He then returned to London as Finance and Economics Editor in 2001. Before his China posting, he was the Washington Correspondent (from 1991-1994) covering Bill Clinton's first years as president. He originally joined the newspaper in 1986 as a financial reporter, becoming Financial Editor in 1990.

He is sought-after as a commentator and is interviewed frequently on radio and television. Assignments include keynote speeches at conferences and investment forums around the world, moderating panel discussions sessions or delivering insightful, more informal dinner talks about Asia and the changes he has witnessed from his many wanderings throughout the region.
