A master of political caricatures – using the power of satire in political commentary.

Based in Baltimore, Kevin Kallaugher has been the man behind The Economist’s satirical cartoons since 1978, depicting key global events each week. KAL, as he is universally called, has been using satire through his drawings to provide political commentary on contemporary events for over three decades. It was in London after 10 years working as a cartoonist for The Observer, The Sunday Telegraph, Today and The Mail on Sunday, that KAL first started to work with The Economist. Now back in Baltimore, he is the Editorial Cartoonist for The Economist and for The Baltimore Sun.

KAL speaks in front of numerous educational and media audiences each year, as well conducting professional engagements at conferences and corporate events. Speaking topics focus on the magic of caricature; The Stand-up Cartoonist; Laughing at Power; Satire and the Freedom of Expression

KAL is a Past President of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists and the Cartoonists Rights Network International and is a strong advocate of free expression. He graduated from Harvard College with honours in Visual and Environmental Studies in 1977.

"Commanding a masterful style, Kallaugher stands among the premier caricaturists of the (twentieth) century."The World Encyclopedia of Cartoons
