Mr Bery is one of India's most influential and respected economists, based in New Delhi and a leading authority on the India's economic development. He is currently Director General of the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), which is India's most distinguished economics bodies and is an influential advisor to the Government of India and to the financial and business community.
A respected speaker and commentator on India's economic growth, policy initiatives and financial markets, he is also prominent in the discussion about the economic relationship between China and India -- and was one of a small group of Indian economists invited to Beijing in 2004 specifically to compare the two emerging economies.
He holds advisory positions with numerous key Ministries (Finance, Labour, External Affairs), the Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry (ASSOCHAM), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Institute of Economic Growth, National Institute of Public Finance & Policy, National Productivity Council, Government Accounting Standards Advisory Board, NISTADS Research Council, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), theCentral Electricity Authority and the All-India Management Council (AIMA). He is a director of the State Bank of India.
Mr Bery has published numerous papers and has been involved in a number of public engagements; he is the publisher and editor-in-chief of various NCAER economic papers including India Policy Forum (co-editor) and Margin: The Journal of Applied Economic Research.
He has been a speaker at business summits and international forums; he is a regular speaker at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), The World Bank, The World Economic Forum (WEF) and other such prestigious and influential forums, also an invited guest speaker at many of the world's leading universities and business schools.
